Vera Kalinichenko is Vice President of AI and data science at SmarterX, where she leads regulatory AI products for DOT, OSHA, and RCRA classifications and builds end-to-end machine learning systems from data ingestion to model serving. Previously, Vera led data science at organizations including Shift Technologies, DISQO, FabFitFun, and Headspace, following over a decade of experience as a software engineer. Her work spans recommendation engines, retention and pricing models, fraud detection, computer vision, and modern LLM/RAG pipelines—emphasizing rigorous mathematics with measurable business impact for executives and product teams.
Vera earned a BS in mathematics of computation and an MA in applied mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles. Some of her publications include “From Business Curated Products to Algorithmically Generated: Synthetic Data Generation with Genetic Programming” (2020) and “Leverage Mathematics’ Capability to Compress and Generalize: ML Embedding Extraction from LLMs in the Automotive Space” (2023).
