Robert Ostrov

Robert Ostrov is an experienced human resource leader and scholar. He was the recipient of an award from the Macarthur Foundation for his work in the field of Employee Education, Training and Development and was elected to National Academy of Human Resources. He is also recognized as one of the nation’s leading experts on the subject of independent contractors. Further, as a nationally recognized expert on HR and Labor Relations he has provided consultation, testimony and expertise to Congressional Committees, the NLRB, IRS, SEC, and the Treasury Department. His previous academic faculty appointments include Penn State and the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has also been a visiting lecturer at UCLA and Cornell University, and was on the Faculty of the Board of Directors Training College at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University Schools of Business. Before devoting his work to teaching, Ostrov was an Operating Executive Partner for Kohlberg Private Equity. He has also held several Senior Executive Human Resource roles for various Fortune 500 companies, including serving as Senior Vice President and CHRO of Arvin Meritor, Vice President Human Resources and Labor Relations at FedEx, Senior Vice President Human Resources at GE/GE Capital, and Senior Vice President Chief Administrative Officer at True Value. Robert holds both a JD and an MPA and received his BS from Cornell University in Industrial and Labor Relations. His groundbreaking research and work is creating advancements in the field of human resources and has been cited by many recognized world-class corporate universities and their academic institution partners.
