On May 13, 2021, USC Bovard College held a virtual Graduation Celebration for the Class of 2021. The event served as an opportunity to acknowledge this tremendous milestone for graduates. Dean Anthony Bailey also recognized the family and friends in attendance. “This day in celebration is also for you. Your support and encouragement has been tremendously important throughout their academic journey.”
Attendees also heard from keynote speaker Dr. Christine Porath, author of Mastering Civility: A Manifesto for the Workplace and co-author of The Cost of Bad Behavior. Dr. Porath encouraged graduates to understand the importance of one’s mindset and actions, especially as they progress as leaders. The notion of thriving, she explained, can be achieved by taking care of one’s self and managing one’s energy. Dr. Porath implored graduates to practice gratitude, avoid negativity and to seek out positive relationships.
MSCJ faculty members also shared messages of congratulations with the graduates, applauding their hard work, dedication, and drive to improve their lives and their communities.
Additionally, graduates expressed what “Fight On!” meant to them. For many, the phrase represents resilience, perseverance, and courage, especially through challenging and uncertain times.
