Raymond Pun

Raymond “Ray” Pun is an academic and research librarian at the Alder Graduate School of Education, a teacher residency program in California. In this role, he supports all aspects of the library, from evidence synthesis and licensing to scholarly communication, serving pre-service teachers (graduate students), teacher educators, and researchers. With nearly two decades of professional experience, Ray has worked as a librarian and educator at Stanford University, Fresno State, New York University, Shanghai, and The New York Public Library. He is an active contributor to professional discourse in library and information science, presenting extensively at local, regional, national, and international conferences.

Ray holds a BA in history and an MA in East Asian studies from St. John’s University; an MLS from Queens College; and an EdD in educational leadership from California State University, Fresno. His scholarship and publications include co-editing numerous books, co-authoring a monograph, and authoring peer-reviewed articles on topics including sustainability, library advocacy, ethnic studies, and global librarianship. An active member of the American Library Association, Ray has served as the 50th president of the Chinese American Librarians Association (2022–2023) and as the 42nd president of the Asian Pacific American Librarians Association (2021–2022).
