Crystal Smith

Crystal M. Smith has over 20 years of experience in project management, construction, corporate real estate, cost analysis, and quality control. In her career, she has managed projects in over a dozen cities in the United States and on international assignment in the Netherlands. She currently serves as Project Director in corporate real estate for Duke Energy, where she is spearheading the construction of a new 40-story tower in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. She is responsible for managing the construction team and ensuring budget adherence and cost change control while driving the project schedule and overall project execution.

Crystal earned a BS in civil engineering systems from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida. She is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a LEED Accredited Professional (AP) in Building Design and Construction (BD+C). She is a member of the Project Management Institute, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the Society of Women Engineers as well as a lifetime member of the National Society of Black Engineers. Additionally, Crystal sits on the University of Pennsylvania Engineering alumni board for the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
